My Bacon Soap!

Sorry it took so long, but here's my bacon soap.

This is after we took it out of the mold. As you can see, it needs to be trimmed, which can be expected. My Mom had problems with the liner paper being flat, plus I put a lot of soap in there too. Don't be upset if your soap turns out like that too, trimming it will make it look better.
Example: trimmed, but Mom may trim more later.
See Mom, it wasn't too dark! :)
What do you think of my soap? Does it remind you of bacon? It smells just like bacon!
Catch you later!

I made BACON Soap!

This is my first blog post, today I made bacon soap with my Mom.
Soapmaking has a lot of steps. First you have to make the lye water. Second we melted our oils. Let me show you in pictures.

Here is the lye mixture. My Mom made it cause she said that I wasn't old enough to  make it safely. She wore gloves, googles and didn't breath it in. Lye can hurt you bad , even burn you if your not careful. Don't get it on your skin. Mom says that it is always Safety first so she made me go to the house while she made the lye.
Here is the second step, I measured the oils and butter. (it isn't real butter, Mom says it was called "Shea Butter") Also, make sure you pay attention to how much you put in. If you have directions, do it the way it says to. Mom says that it has to be just right.

This is all of the oils and butter together up close.
You can't see it well, but Mom put in the lye mixture for me, and had me stir it. Oh yeah, make sure you wear gloves when making soap. It is important so you don't get germs in your soap.
This is me using the stick blender to make soap.  I had to push the button twice, then stir it around, then  push the button twice, and stir. I did this for a few minutes.
This is when it is coming to trace. It's when it is thick, and that's how you want it to be.
It gets a little messy. I added Bacon scent here. It is not real bacon, only fragrance. I like the smell.
We only did 2 colors, brown and white.  More stirring with the stick blender.

It's almost done. Mom thinks it might be too brown for bacon. We use it anyway cause she doesn't waste soap batter.

This is me pouring the white soap. Mom told me to cover the bottom of the mold with it. Molds are what you use to put soap in to cool and harden, and it gives it it's shape.

This is me pouring brown soap with a spoon in the white soap.
When I was done pouring, Mom put spots of brown soap on top with some white. I took a stick  and made the swirls. It was a little messy.
That's what it looks when it's all done. Now all it needs to do is  dry and harden.  Oh but you probably should know that it needs to cure before you use it. Meaning it takes time for it to get mild enough to use because it could burn if it is not cured.
We covered it with a towel because Mom said that it has to stay warm and go through a gel phase.
We will cut the soap this weekend, so come back to see what it looks like this weekend!
Oh yeah, buy my Mom's soap.
So what do you think about my soap and my blog?
Catch you later,

A word from Montel's Mama

*waves* Hello everyone!
This is Montel's Mama, and Montel and I created this blog so that everyone could keep up with the new things that Montel's doing.
Montel is 14 years old, and because of that fact we have his blog on my account where it can be monitored. Please be mindful of the things you say on his comments, as again he is a minor.
Stay tuned for Montel's first blog post!
